Project room: Soniferous Eden by Mileece. Mileece’s interactive plant software analyses and allocates planet bio-emissions to generate the minutest elements of harmonically oriented sound design, thus enabling plant/man interaction to become audible. She describes this unique balance of data as musical gesture as Aesthetic Sonification*.
Soniferous Eden is a presentation of this work within a stone circle Planet Earth. Where a lush grove of planets, floating in a sea of stars, generates a rich and dynamic soundscape in response to the presenceand touch of participants, who walk barefooted in moist soil among them.
Soniferous Earth was originally commissioned by BOX Foundation, the EDS Innovation Center at the LSE, London and has since been presented at a variety of prestigious museums and festivals across Europe.
*Sonification is the replay of data through sound.
